I’m also trying to shift to a new relationship with my phone.
On the one hand, I’m trying to figure out this whole “social media” thing. For years, I never really used it and rarely spent much time on it.
However, now that I see potential to — brace yourself for generic jargon — grow my following, increase my influence, and engage with my audience, I find myself spending WAY TOO MUCH TIME on social media.
My average time on Instagram is 1h 24m.
That’s a lot of daily time loss.
Even more embarrassing, I seem to have spent 3h 16m on Sunday.
I didn’t even realize I did that!
But, I’m so grateful that Instagram has a “Set Daily Reminder Feature.”
I’ve limited myself to only 35m per day.
And, even while doing that, I’m mentally trying to minimize my time so that I never have to say that pesky notification.
Gonna need a lot of will power for this one!
I like the idea of looking ahead and picturing the tasks that need to be done most before even unlocking my phone and getting lost in a social media time suck.
Thanks for sharing these ideas, Megan Houston Sager, and wish me luck on building a new relationship with my phone. =)
