Did an AI Overview Lead to $20K in New Revenue?
When Google released its AI Overviews they frustrated the hell out of me.
I was so pissed I made a LinkedIn post about it that went viral. With 17,325 impressions, 13 reposts and 193 people reacting — I clearly wasn’t the only one upset with Google’s new AI garbage.
If you’re unfamiliar — or a hermit remerging ffrom the woods — Google’s AI was spewing sh*t responses like:
- You can make cheese stick to your pizza with glue
- You should eat your boogers to boost your immune system
- You can eat one small rock per day
Un-fu*king-believable, eh?
I guess its no surprise that Google is getting slapped in the face with lawsuits.
Like the latest from Chegg, which sued Google on February 24, 2025, and accuses the tech giant of unfairly keeping traffic that used to go to its site.
“As we allege in our complaint, Google AI Overviews has transformed Google from a ‘search engine’ into an ‘answer engine,’ displaying AI-generated content sourced from third-party sites like Chegg,” said Chegg’s CEO, Nathan Schultz.
