3 Ways Tree Planting Prepares You to Conquer the World

And forces a confrontation with who you really are

I learned about tree planting in my third year of university when a friend of a friend shared their past experience at a house party. We were a few drinks deep and I was skeptical about being able to earn a year’s tuition in 2 months or less.

So, I spent the next month doing some online research. While many online forums mentioned bugs and bad weather and poor working conditions — I liked the idea of working outside, living in my tent, and being in nature.

I found a job with a company called Thunderhouse Forest Services. When I got the email that I was hired, I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

It was a long and torturous first season. However, after pushing through, I can tell you that tree planting prepares you to conquer the world. But, to do that, you must first be able to overcome the following three things.

The Weather (i.e., Hot and Cold; Sleet and Snow; Thunder and Rain — Still We Go)

Just because you wake up with torrential rain falling on your tent didn’t mean you could sleep in and call off the day. The only occasions when the weather conditions stopped tree plant…
